How to make a video game with Claude Code
One free repo turns a single Claude Code session into a game studio with 49 AI agents. You pitch the idea and make every decision; they plan, build and test it.
From the "49 AI agents" video. You commented GAME, so here's the link and how to start.

Claude Code Game Studios is by Donchitos, free under the MIT licence, with about 34,600 GitHub stars when we checked on 4 November 2026. It's a project template: 49 agents, 74 slash-command skills, 15 hooks and 14 rules that Claude Code loads when you start it in the folder.
how it works
Your idea goes down the floors
The agents are organised like a real studio. Your idea starts at the top and gets more concrete on every floor. The numbers are how many agents work on each floor.
You pitch it, answer questions and approve every choice.
Creative director, technical director and producer turn the idea into a plan.
Game design, lead programmer, art, audio, narrative, QA, release and localisation split the plan up.
Gameplay, engine, AI and UI programmers, level and systems designers, writers, sound designers and more build it.
Experts for Godot 4, Unity and Unreal Engine 5, each with their own sub-specialists. You use the set for your engine.
Anything a player would see isn't marked done until the game is launched and a screenshot is saved as proof, not just when the tests pass.
step 1
What you need
- Claude Code and a paid Claude plan or API credits.
- Git, Python 3 and Bash (on Windows, Bash comes with Git for Windows). jq is recommended.
- A game engine: Godot 4, Unity or Unreal Engine 5. If you've never made a game, Godot is free and the lightest to install.
Install Claude Code if you haven't:
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
step 2
Copy the studio and open it
Swap my-game for your game's name:
git clone https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios.git my-game
cd my-game
claude
CLAUDE.md in it. Starting it in a subfolder like src/ skips the studio's hooks and safety rules.step 3
Pitch your idea
Type this first. It asks where you are and sends you to the right workflow:
/start
Or go straight to brainstorming with your idea, then set up your engine:
/brainstorm a cosy 2D game where a night-shift lighthouse keeper guides lost boats home
/setup-engine godot 4.7
The agents ask questions, show you options and wait for your OK before writing anything. That's on purpose: you're the studio head.
Commands worth knowing
/start /help /setup-engine/brainstorm /quick-design /design-system/create-stories /dev-story /sprint-plan/code-review /qa-plan /smoke-checkbefore you start
The catches
- Keep the process light. The default setting is the lightest one. The repo's own test of four builds from one brief ranked its heaviest setting last, after it wrote 30 documents and spent 58 minutes before the first line of game code.
- It uses a lot of Claude. 49 agents means many calls, and the three directors ask for the biggest model. Start with a tiny game and watch your usage.
- It's built on Windows first. Hooks are tested on macOS and Linux too, but one notification hook only works on Windows.
- It's a starting point, not a finished game. You still play it, give notes and make the calls.
